Before we begin the novel, learn about Alcatraz, Fisherman's Wharf, and San Francisco! Then you will create a postcard about a "fictional visit" based on what you have learned.
1. Click on all of the links below to learn as much as you can.
2. Take notes about interesting sites/info on a WORD document; include 3-5 pictures you could use for the front of a post card.
3. Create a postcard here Be sure to edit for grammar, usage, and mechanics!
4. Print your postcard. Then print 1 of your pictures, cut, and use a glue stick to finish your post card.
Your postcard will be graded on:
correct information for each section/followed directions
ACTIVITY 1 - Using the writing models workbook, write a sentence for each model (5 total = 20 pts each) relating to the novel for: absolute, appositive, dash, vivid verb, and figurative language. Use a different FONT for each sentence. Complete your work on a WORD document and save in the Young folder. Print this out with your name at the top for a grade. Then, click on the discussion tab for this page and make your work a NEW POST. Be sure to check your work before your post. Use the same color coding as indicated in the activity instructions. This will be due on November 22, 2012.
